Camila Galheigo Coelho
Camila is a Brazilian biologist and filmmaker with over ten years’ experience in international natural history and science productions, including seven years at the BBC Natural History Unit. She has worked on productions for the BBC, PBS, NatGeo/Disney+ and NBCUniversal, combining scientific expertise with story development and creative production.
Her credits include The Americas, Dynasties II: Meerkat, Primates, Earth’s Great Rivers, Atlantic: Earth’s Wildest Ocean, Wild Brazil and Life. Across these series she has researched and developed storylines, written pitches and story treatments, prepared storyboards and filming scripts, and worked closely with production teams to take sequences from early development through filming and edit.
Camila has overseen international shoots across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, setting up and managing filming in remote and challenging environments. She has directed blue-chip natural history sequences as well as observational conservation stories with local communities, using everything from long-lens and macro to gimbal systems, handheld or mounted on boats, vehicles and helicopters. She is also skilled in managing crews, permits and complex production logistics, including underwater, rope-access and remote-camera operations.
With a background in animal behaviour and conservation science, Camila brings a strong research foundation to factual storytelling. She is particularly interested in wildlife, conservation and the relationship between people and the natural world. Fluent in Portuguese and English, she is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
